With Mr. Patrick's family Mrs. Sophie and their very cute and handsome son, Leon From France
On July 16, 2026, a WhatsApp message came to my phone from a foreign tourist named Mr. Patrick. He wanted to book a taxi for his family from France. They asked to be picked up at the Probolinggo Train Station on July 19, 2026 at 05.00 pm, to be escorted to the Parama Bromo Hotel. The journey from the station to the hotel in the Bromo area usually takes about 1 hour. When the pick-up day arrived, I was already preparing at the station before their train docked. As soon as I stepped off the platform, I recognized Mr. Patrick came with his wife, Sophie, and their 8-year-old son Leon. After greeting them kindly and helping to arrange the suitcases into the trunk,we began the journey through the city of Probolinggo to the mountains. At the beginning of the trip, I tried to open small talk using English with Mr. Patrick is in the front seat. However, he only smiled awkwardly and shook his head. Apparently, Mr. Patrick could not master English at all and could only communicate with French. Luckily, Mom Sophie who was sitting in the back seat immediately answered the conversation. He was very fluent in English, so the rest of the trip I chatted intimately with him as a family translator. The funniest and most memorable moment happened in the middle of the trip when the cab cabin began to climb. Suddenly mom Sophie whispered that she and Leon really want to learn Indonesian. 8-year-old Leon immediately leaned forward with enthusiastic twinkling eyes. For the rest of the trip, our taxi turned into a language class full of laughter. I teach them simple words like" Good afternoon"," Thank you "and"eat". The behavior of Leon who tried to imitate the Indonesian accent with his bulenya tongue sounded very funny and adorable. Mr. Patrick, who did not understand the meaning of his words, laughed at the enthusiasm of his children and wife. Imperceptibly, the 1-hour trip passed so quickly because it was filled with laughter until finally we arrived safely in the courtyard of the hotel Parama Bromo.
After three days enjoying the beauty of the sunrise in Bromo, Mr. Patrick continues on July 22, 2026. That morning, they decided to visit the legendary Madakaripura waterfall before leaving Probolinggo. This natural attraction is located in Sapih Village, Lumbang District, Probolinggo Regency.I picked them up at the Parama Bromo Hotel. As soon as he got into the taxi, Leon immediately greeted me with a stammer, "stop!"which we immediately greeted with laughter together. The journey from the hotel to Madakaripura takes about an hour, cutting through beautiful mountain roads. During the trip, Mom Sophie told me that they were very impressed with the majestic Mount Bromo. Meanwhile, Mr. Patrick only nodded in agreement with a smile, occasionally chiming in with the French translated by his wife.Upon arrival at the Madakaripura area, a mystical and majestic atmosphere immediately greeted them. Since the waterfall is on a narrow cliff and is always wet with splashes of water, I helped them rent a local plastic raincoat. Leon is very happy to wear his purple raincoat, feeling like a little explorer. When walking down a 200-meter rock cliff and seeing a waterfall flowing like a giant curtain, they were completely amazed. Mom Sophie repeatedly exclaimed "Beautiful!"while Mr. Patrick was busy capturing the moment with his camera while muttering, "Magnifique!"Satisfied with playing with water and taking pictures, we went back to the taxi to continue the next agenda. This is the final part of their journey in Probolinggo. I drove them to the Mtrans Bus agent in Probolinggo City. As scheduled, their mtrans bus will depart at exactly 20.00 pm to travel by land and sea to Denpasar, Bali.
